The New Forest festival returns to Burley after a two-year hiatus

A family festival returns to the New Forest next month after a two-year hiatus and will be ‘bigger and better’ than ever, organizers say.

The three-day Burley Festival takes place at Manor Park between Friday May 27 and Sunday May 29, with a host of new attractions, family camping and free entry for under-10s.

Festival organizer Marianne Brown of Mojo Events said: “As always, our goal is the same: to celebrate the best in local food, art, drink and music.

“For locals and visitors alike, Burley Festival is a weekend full of crafts, artistic expressions and fantastic local musical talent, whether it’s a day out for the whole family or an affordable weekend in the beautiful NewForest.”

The event will see the New Forest’s top artisan food and drink producers showcasing their wares in Deer Street. There is also a brand new organic, vegan and veggie corner called the Roots Veg Patch.

Festival-goers can also enjoy a full menu of local craft beers, ciders, wines, gins and cocktails at the festival bars, the OUTside INN or local bar Burley.

For music fans, the Haystack Main Stage will host some of the area’s best jazz, blues, soul and funk bands with more acoustic sounds from the In’Tree’Ducing Stage with its decor of old oak trees.

Behind the tree, visitors discover the space of the Mystical Tree where moments of peace are guaranteed accompanied by a “sprinkling of pixie dust”.

Younger visitors will find the Lil Scrumpers Kids Zone to be the perfect spot for free workshops, storytelling and face painting, as well as trampolines and castles. Meanwhile, the Forest Craft Emporium is home to local makers offering free workshops for kids and adults.

There will also be classic cars, retro clothing and Lindy Hop classes at Va Va Vintage.

The charity chosen by the Burley Festival this year is Poole-based charity MyTime Young Carers.

The Burley Festival takes place from 6 p.m. on May 27 and from 10 a.m. on May 28 and 29.

Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.
